Our Swiss neighbors are known to love fast and powerful cars. However, the Swiss can also do a little more on two wheels. An e-scooter, which was taken out of circulation by the city police of St. Gallen on Tuesday evening, surprised even the PS-tested Swiss.
Shortly after 9 p.m. on Tuesday evening, a St. Gallen City Police patrol noticed an e-scooter because of the rainbow-colored lighting. The subsequent check showed that the e-scooter had an extreme acceleration. The 27-year-old driver and his vehicle therefore had to go to the police station.
A measurement on the test bench there resulted in a maximum speed of the e-scooter of 98 km/h. As also shown, the vehicle has a 5000 watt motor. By way of comparison: an e-bike with pedal assistance up to 25 km/h has a motor power of 250 watts. The vehicle was secured.
The 27-year-old has been charged with driving an unauthorized vehicle, not having a driver’s license, which would be necessary at this speed and performance, and not having car insurance, which is also necessary.
