The case causes horror: On Monday, a dead boy was discovered in an apartment in the Tyrolean lowlands. According to an autopsy, the three-year-old child may have starved to death. The parents are suspected of committing the crime. Those arrested will be interrogated on Thursday. A decision must be made on Friday afternoon on whether a request for pre-trial detention will be submitted.
How will the parents respond to the accusations? Or are they exercising their right to refuse to testify? “The interrogations of the arrested parents will take place today (Thursday, note),” said Hansjörg Mayr, spokesman for the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office.
In any case, the judiciary must decide on Friday afternoon whether the parents will be released or whether a request for pre-trial detention will be made. “If a request is made to impose pre-trial detention, the regional court should decide on it within 48 hours,” Mayr explains the further procedure.
There was no new information about the tragic case for the time being.
Death from “mass malnutrition”
The boy was found dead in his bed late on Pentecost on Monday after his father called the police. An autopsy ultimately revealed that the three-year-old child “died as a result of massive malnutrition.”
The Innsbruck Public Prosecutor’s Office has therefore opened an investigation against the parents (25 and 26 years old) on suspicion of murder. After initially being admitted to a hospital due to a mental health emergency, they were arrested on Wednesday afternoon.
The family has not been spotted by the authorities so far
Three other siblings were placed in the care of Child and Youth Services. The girls (1, 3 and 6 years old) showed no symptoms of deficiency. The family had also previously not attracted any attention from the authorities.
