Mondragon announced its 2023 results in a statement this Friday and the President of the Corporation, Inigo Ucinhighlighted the “positive” evolution of the group in “a context of uncertainty, conditioned by various international conflicts and their consequences on the markets.”
The industrial and distribution cooperatives integrated into the company achieved a turnover of 11,056 million euros, an increase of 5.1% compared to last year’s figure. For its part, Ebita recovered by 34.7% to 1,486 million euros and the combined result amounts to 593 million, compared to 443 million in 2022, which is 33.86% more.
In terms of employment, the average workforce was 70,500 people, a slight increase from the previous year. In 2023, the number of investments by cooperatives rose to 369 million in total, surpassing the previous year by 6.4%. Mondragon has pointed out that these figures confirm that the cooperatives as a whole have been able to overcome “with flying colors” a “complicated” exercise in which “geopolitics has determined the evolution of the economy and markets”.
Likewise, he emphasized that the group’s behavior in the first four months of 2024 remains “positive” and “on the rise”, although the year remains immersed “in a context of uncertainty” for companies. In concrete terms, there was a turnover growth of 4.4% compared to the previous year.
