A vehicle fire kept the emergency services busy in Mittersill in Pinzgau on Saturday afternoon. Just as the alert fire brigade arrived on the scene, a gas cylinder stored in the car exploded.
The extinguishing units of four fire brigades prevented the fire from spreading to the attached house. No one was injured, operations manager Martin Rauchbacher of the Mittersill fire brigade reported on Sunday.
The residents themselves escaped. About 45 minutes later the fire was under control and clean-up work continued into the night. The garage and vehicle burned down completely. The cause of the fire was initially unknown.
