On Friday evening, an 80-year-old Austrian woman died in a serious car accident in Greece. All help came too late for the woman.
The 80-year-old had just returned from visiting friends in the village of Platanias. On the mountainous Pelion peninsula north of Athens, she suddenly lost control of the car, veered off the road and ended up in a ditch. According to the police, the car then caught fire, reported the portal “Ekathimerini.com”.
Caught in the wreckage
Witnesses noticed the fire and immediately alerted the emergency services. However, all help came too late for the woman who was trapped in the wreck and had been living in Greece for several years.
Probably fuel or oil leakage
Greek police suspect it may have been a gasoline or oil leak. The police and fire brigade are conducting an initial investigation into the cause of the accident.
