A 56-year-old worker had to be released by his own colleagues on Friday morning. It was previously buried under about 800 kilos of plastic granules. The man was flown to hospital with serious injuries.
On Friday at 9 a.m., a 56-year-old North Macedonian from Wels filled an approximately 1.60 meter high walk-in bunker at a production company in Gunskirchen with plastic pellets weighing about 800 kilograms, which were in a large package. The worker lifted the large package over the hopper using a forklift and climbed over the forklift onto the inlet screen in the hopper. He then cut open the large pack, whereupon all the grains escaped for some unknown reason and buried him.
Serious injury
Other employees immediately came to the man’s aid and freed him. The crew of the emergency medical helicopter provided first aid together with the rescue team. Fire crews from surrounding communities helped secure the funnel and rescue the victim. The 56-year-old was flown to hospital with serious injuries.
