A man with a skateboard blocked the way of a police patrol to an operation in Vienna and showed the officers the middle finger. The emergency services were actually on their way to an operation. The incident took place on the night of Thursday to Friday in the Brigittenau district.
The officers of the Brigittenau city police command had to interrupt their journey in the area of Jägerstrasse. Two brothers crossed the protective path just as police were about to drive down the street. The 29-year-old man quickly left the area so as not to hinder emergency services. According to police, the older brother, a 32-year-old, deliberately stood in the middle of the protective path, raised both hands and repeatedly showed the middle finger to the officers.
Attempted attack with skateboard
He then walked up and down the street shouting insults at the police, preventing them from continuing their journey. When he tried to talk, the man ran away. He stopped again in Staudingergasse, grabbed the skateboard he was carrying and waved at the officers in an attempt to attack. The 32-year-old was eventually arrested.
The breath test was negative
It was still unclear on Saturday why he attacked the officers. When he was arrested, he stated that he had been drinking before. However, an alcohol test showed that there was no alcoholism. The man is said to have been released on the orders of the Vienna public prosecutor’s office.
