Hotel prices in the Basque Country rose by 14% in May, above the average of 8.1%

In the Basque Autonomous Community, the average daily rate per room was 122.84 euros, which represents an increase of 14.3% year on year. Overall, prices increased by 13.97% compared to the previous year.

As for the Spanish state, hotel prices rose by 8.1% in May and resumed their path of increases, well above inflation, after some restraint in April, with an increase of 4%.

According to figures published this Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), hotel accommodation prices have increased very significantly since June 2021, after the pandemic, reaching peaks of almost 30% in April 2022.

Hotel nights in the Basque Country increased by 7.12%

The occupancy rate of hotel establishments in the Basque Country grew by 7.12% in May compared to the same month of the previous year, after leaving negative rates and adding a total of 665,597 operations, according to the latest data published this Monday.

Of the total overnight stays in Euskadi, 301,555 were made by residents of the Spanish state (45.31%), while 364,041 (54.69%) were of foreign origin.
