Major fire currently in Obertilliach in East Tyrol! Shortly after 6 a.m., a fire broke out in a sawmill. The fire spread to two other parts of the building. Numerous fire brigades from East Tyrol and the Hermagor district are currently battling the flames.
At around 6:10 a.m., a fire broke out for unknown reasons in a newly built sawmill in Obertilliach. Shortly afterwards, the flames spread to two other parts of the building. “The fire chief and deputy district fire chief responded and saw that part of the sawmill was completely on fire,” says Harald Draxl, district fire chief in the Lienz district.
A little later, alarm level three was activated and numerous fire brigades from East Tyrol and the surrounding area were warned: “A total of twelve fire brigades were present, eight from East Tyrol, three from the Hermagor district and colleagues from Innichen in South Tyrol. Tyrol,” says Draxl.
Many Florianis have prevented the worst
About 220 emergency services were deployed. Draxl praises the approach to the major fire: “Good tactical decisions have been made. This prevented a total loss.”
The fire is now under control. Re-extinguishing work is currently taking place.
