Noise and dust make learning torture for the girls and boys at the primary school in Maria Rain. Concerned parents criticize these conditions.
The teaching conditions at VS Maria Rain are currently anything but good. Because the school, which is being converted into an education center, profiles itself as a construction site. “It’s loud, there’s drilling, painters come into the classroom and start working, there’s dust. “Dangers also lurk in the entire area,” says Ronald Petschnig, concerned for his children. “My daughter suffers from headaches, cannot concentrate and is exposed to unhealthy fumes,” says the father.
He wants to draw attention to the unacceptable conditions. “It’s about the health and safety of the little ones! Both factors are at high risk under the circumstances.”
Uncoordinated work as the cause
The director of the primary school Heribert Kulmesch is aware of these accusations. “Unfortunately, there were repeated adverse incidents during the year about which parents complained to us,” the director explains. “Unfortunately, the companies acted in an uncoordinated manner and carried out the work without first consulting the construction manager,” Kulmesch regrets. He assures that the school management responded immediately.
Mayor Franz Ragger of Maria Rains points out that this is a mega construction site. “This is a huge project and noise and dust cannot be avoided. Unfortunately it’s not easy. Above all, the plan must be ready in the autumn,” the community leader emphasizes. According to the director and mayor, there is no danger to health. “If there is any danger here, we must report it immediately!”
