Tragic alpine accident Thursday morning in the Zillertal Alps in Tyrol: a mountaineer fell to his death during a trip to the Großer Möseler (3,480 meters). A more precise background to the tragedy or the identity of the victim is not yet known.
The accident is said to have occurred late Thursday morning around 11:15 am at an altitude of approximately 3,000 meters above sea level. The mountaineer is said to have fallen about 200 meters in the area of the so-called Felsköpfl and suffered fatal injuries.
Traveling with two traveling companions
The alpinist was apparently on his way from Furtschaglhaus to Großer Möseler. According to reports, he was traveling with two other mountaineers. The companions were flown to the valley by the emergency medical helicopter “Heli 4”.
Nothing is yet known about the exact cause of the accident. There is also no information yet about the identity of the victim.
