Operation with a happy ending: a fallen dog was rescued from the Tyrolean gorge

Date:

Animal rescue with a happy ending: Tyrolean mountain rescuers saved a fallen dog in the Kaiserklamm near Brandenberg (Kufstein district) on Friday afternoon. The five-year-old four-legged friend was lucky not to fall into the flowing water of the Brandenberger Ache.

A holidaying couple from Germany were traveling in the idyllic gorge with their five-year-old dog “Fips” when the four-legged friend slipped under the protection and fell over steep terrain towards the stream. Since the dog’s fate was initially unclear to the owners, the Kramsach/surrounding mountain rescue service was alerted via an emergency call around 3:40 p.m.

Waiting for rescue in a rocky hollow
Under the leadership of Hannes Knoll, two women and three men went to the scene. After drilling a stand, local site manager Gerhard Unterberger was carefully lifted down by his colleagues and was able to give the green light shortly afterwards. Fortunately, the little ‘Fips’ did not fall into the raging Brandenberg Pain, but waited quietly in a washed-out rocky depression about 50 feet below the trail to be rescued.

Unterberger was able to save the four-legged friend without any reluctance, so that his owner could take her “runaway” back into her arms after a short time and check him for injuries.

Extra lots of hugs
“Fips” appears to have survived the crash well. Of course he received lots of extra caresses from his owner and the rescuers before he went home. After about two hours, a particularly beautiful mountain rescue operation came to an end as we returned to the mountain rescue center.
