The superheroes from the highly successful Amazon series ‘The Boys’ are not shining idols, but rather fascist supermen. The series explores the madness of American politics with verve. But now many fans are suddenly rehearsing rebellion. Why? Krone+ explains it to you.
Since its launch in July 2019, Amazon Prime’s “The Boys” has thrilled audiences as a brilliantly crude superhero allegory about Donald Trump, the excesses of capitalism, political fanaticism, the new Nazis, and America’s (not-so-secret) fascist tendencies. The Emmy-nominated series is set in a universe where superheroes are both powerful and corrupt celebrities. Only a small group of upstanding individuals, the eponymous “The Boys,” centered around Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), stands against them.
