Strong gusts of wind – Czech (57) killed by a branch in front of his house

Date:

In the Czech municipality of Bobnice, a 57-year-old was killed by a falling branch in front of his house on Saturday evening. There were also heavy showers in Prague, in which a man was seriously injured and his companion slightly injured.

A tree had fallen on both of them. In addition, mass panic broke out at a music festival in Jihlava, about 100 kilometers southeast of Prague. The roof moved and the power went out, the police reported. People then fled in panic to the exit. Seven of them were slightly injured.

Here you see a tweet from the Czech police about the music festival.

Emergency services were also needed in neighboring Poland. In Radgoszcz, a gust of wind tore away two children’s bouncy castles, injuring four minors between the ages of three and 18. In West Pomerania, a scout camp had to be evacuated, and firefighters cleared fallen trees from the streets in several places.

Landslide in Switzerland
In the Swiss cantons of Graubünden and Ticino, it rained heavily for the third weekend in a row. The access road to the Valle di Muggio was buried by a landslide, affecting nine small villages. Another slope that threatened to slide was secured.

In both cantons, danger level three out of five is still in effect until Sunday evening. After that, the rain should decrease again. A week ago, six people died in landslides and floods in Ticino, and two weeks ago, four people were swept away by floods in Graubünden. Only one was rescued alive.
