After the victory of the New Popular Front in the French parliamentary elections, the stability of the National Assembly is now plunged into crisis huge cloud of uncertainty.

And while the Union of the Left and Macron’s party achieved their goal of relegating the far right to third position, neither bloc now has the majority needed to govern effectively (289 deputies are needed for an absolute majority).

The new French government will therefore also have to be characterized by cohabitationalthough the left-wing opposition has already confirmed that it will exclude Macron’s party from its government. In this way, a scenario could arise in which the government and the presidency are different colors.

One of the options that can be explored is to negotiate and agree on a consensus candidate that he can lead that next government, and please both the winning left and Macron’s formation.

There would be another route through it form a “technical government”with a cohabiting prime minister, who does not undertake major legislative initiatives. It would be a “expert” manager not affiliated with a political party, and for which a majority in the National Assembly gives the green light.

Calling new elections will not be a possible scenario, as the Constitution only allows this after one year.
