A local inspection by the “Krone” shows the extent of the fire in a residential building in Vöcklabruck. 130 firefighters were able to prevent something worse from happening, but eleven people had to be taken to hospital with smoke inhalation. Why the manager is very critical and who he blames for the incident.
Josef Breitenfellner has been a caretaker at Anton-Hesch-Gasse 4 in Vöcklabruck for two years. He lives on the first floor and was lucky on Sunday evening when the fire broke out. “It was a disaster. My attention was drawn to a woman kneeling on the sidewalk, screaming and praying and pointing upwards. At first I thought it was suicide, someone jumped out of the window, but then I saw that there was fire everywhere. Her children and her husband were still in the house and the young woman was completely hysterical,” Breitenfellner describes the dramatic moments.
