The Basque Government maintains the growth forecast for the Basque economy at 1.9% for 2024 and 2.1% for 2025. The new Minister of Finance and Finance, Noël d’Anjou Olaizola, presented on Tuesday the economic guidelines on which the first budget of the Basque government of the 13th Legislature.
D’Anjou explained that the first budget of the Lehendakari Pradales era will be aimed at “guaranteeing the well-being of Basque citizens and economic growth”. In terms of housing, special attention will be paid to young people and older people with few resources or accessibility needs.
In turn, the model of education It will continue to work to establish vocational training as a global benchmark, and the university and scientific system will be promoted to make it a “leading and avant-garde” model.

In the social and cultural field, the advisor stressed that the Basque “will remain a priority for the country.” Similarly, the 2025 budget will support creators, artists and cultural professionals and intensify measures targeting young people.
In case of employment opportunitiesloyalty and talent attraction will be promoted and the Basque industry will be supported to achieve “sustainable competitiveness that guarantees progress, growth and roots”. In the same way, the commitment to R&D&i will be consolidated with an annual increase of at least 6%.
The 2025 budget will strengthen the primary sector and implement measures that help tourism “become an engine of growth and employment, while respecting the environment and local communities.”
The Basque Government will also continue “its work to defend self-government and expand its legislative development.”
