Front stuck on the track – car hit by train: woman from East Styria slightly injured

A 58-year-old woman had a stroke of luck in Unterbuch, East Styria, on Tuesday afternoon: the woman was unable to stop in time at a railway crossing and her car was hit by a train carriage. The East Styrian escaped with minor injuries.

This accident could have ended in a drama: On Tuesday around 2:30 p.m., a 58-year-old was driving her car on the municipal road towards Buch near Hartberg. When the woman from East Styria approached a railway crossing, she braked, but was unable to stop her car in time.

The front of the BMW was wedged into the level crossing and rammed by an approaching ÖBB locomotive. The woman was slightly injured and taken to the LKH Hartberg. Her car was a total loss.

The driver and his passengers escaped with horror. An alcohol test was negative for both the driver and the train driver.
