A serious industrial accident occurred on a mountain pasture in Ellmau, Tyrol, on Thursday morning. A tractor and trailer skidded and overturned. The steering wheel (52) became trapped under the driver’s cab during the accident.
At around 9:30 a.m., the 52-year-old was busy applying manure to a field below the Weißachgraben in Ellmau. “For reasons still unknown, the tractor and the manure tank began to slide,” is how the police describe the accident.
First slipped 50 meters across the meadow
The truck, weighing several tons, slid 50 meters across the mountain pasture and finally got stuck in a concrete gully. This caused the tractor and trailer to tip over and overturn. The 52-year-old was trapped in the leg area under the driver’s cab.
A cyclist noticed the accident. He rushed to the 52-year-old’s aid and immediately called. The tractor driver, who was seriously injured, had to be freed with heavy rescue equipment. He was flown to the hospital in Salzburg. There was considerable damage to the tractor and trailer.
