The average price of electricity on the wholesale market will fall by 22.6% on Wednesday with regard to this Tuesday, on the first day of application of the so-called “Iberian exception” to limit the price of natural gas for electricity generation.
In concrete terms, the average electricity price this Wednesday will be 165.59 euros/MWh, which means: 48 euros less than the current price (214.05 euros/MWh) and its level lowest since May 29 last yearaccording to data published by the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE) and collected by Europa Press.
The mechanism, which was finally given the green light from Brussels last week, limits the price of gas for electricity generation to an average of 48.8 euros per MWh over a twelve-month period and thus covers the coming winter, a period in which those energy prices are more expensive.
