The Secret Service admits that the attack on Trump is ‘the greatest operational failure in decades’

In an ongoing hearing before a House committee, Director Kimberly Cheatle has taken “full responsibility” for her agency’s “security lapses.”

The Director of the United States Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatleadmitted to Congress on Monday that there was an attempted assassination of the former president Donald Trump It was the agency’s “biggest operational failure” in decades.

In an ongoing hearing for a House of Representatives CommitteeCheatle has taken “full responsibility” for the failures of his “security service” and has assured them that they are cooperating with the ongoing investigation into the attack.

“The attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on July 13 is the greatest operational failure by the Secret Service in decades,” Cheatle said in her opening statements before the committee, to which she had been summoned by Republicans who control the House. The Republican opposition has called for Cheatle’s resignationwho heads the agency responsible for Trump’s security.

During the hearing, Republicans protested the Cheatle’s refusal to answer most of your questions claiming that there are several ongoing investigations that the Secret Service is cooperating with to clarify what went wrong during the operation.

The United States Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkasalready admitted that the attack was a security failure. “When I say that something like this cannot happen, we are talking about a failure,” he said.

Trump was that shot in the ear while attending a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13 by a gunman who climbed onto a roof about 450 feet from the former president, though outside the security perimeter.

Two minutes before the shooting, witnesses had warned of the suspicious presence of the shooter, a 20-year-old man whose motives are still unknown, who was shot dead by Secret Service agents.
