Serious accident Tuesday evening in Silz in the Tyrolean district of Imst! Two locals – a man (33) and a woman (28) – wanted to abseil on a via ferrata. However, there were complications, causing the 33-year-old to fall. The helicopter was needed.
The devastating accident happened around 8:30 p.m. On a via ferrata in Silz, the 33-year-old and the 28-year-old eventually abseiled from a 30-meter-high wall. “After they had both freed themselves from the rope, the man wanted to pull the climbing rope,” the police said.
The rope got stuck in the rock face
According to the researchers, the rope probably got stuck in the rock face. As a result, the 33-year-old had to descend about six meters unsecured. “During a new attempt to get the rope off the wall, the man fell and remained injured on the ground.”
The climber was able to make an emergency call independently. A rescue helicopter rescued him with the rope and brought him to the clinic in Innsbruck with serious injuries.
