In the old town of Salzburg – gas instead of brake: the driver (80) drove into a pillar

Date:

On Friday evening, a serious misstep happened to an 80-year-old. The senior wanted to drive her car from Hofstallgasse into the courtyard of the university auditorium. But she stepped on the wrong pedal…

The woman was standing in front of the barriers with her car and wanted to open them. Then the fatal accident happened: her foot went from the brake pedal to the gas pedal. Presumably for health reasons, according to the police report.

Full throttle through the courtyard
The vehicle then broke through the barrier and thundered at full speed across the courtyard and into a brick pillar of the old city building. The impact caused all the airbags to deploy.

According to police, the 80-year-old was injured and was taken to the university hospital by emergency services.
