A twelve-year-old boy suffered CO poisoning while showering in Vienna-Simmering on Saturday and collapsed. Her parents called emergency services shortly before 3 p.m.
When the professional rescue workers arrived at the apartment on Simmeringer Hauptstrasse, their CO warning equipment went off.
“The girl was almost unconscious,” a spokesman said, adding that the family was taken outside and the patient was taken to a hospital.
The professional fire brigade then carried out checks and measurements in the stairwell and in the adjacent apartments. “We then installed a ventilation device in the stairwell.” The gas boiler was blocked by the Viennese network during the operation.
