Terrible accident on Sunday afternoon in the Tyrolean Oberland: Apparently having fallen asleep at the wheel, a local man (36) in Telfs (Innsbruck-Land district) drove his car into the oncoming lane and collided with a German’s car. Both the driver and the Austrian’s two children (2 and 14 years old) were injured.
The serious accident happened shortly before 4:00 p.m. The 36-year-old resident was driving his car westbound on the Buchener Landesstraße (L35). His two children, aged two and fourteen, were also on board.
The car ended up in the opposite lane
“The man then ended up on the oncoming vehicle, probably due to a microsleep, and collided head-on with the oncoming vehicle, driven by the 53-year-old German, who was alone in the vehicle,” said the driver.
Both drivers and children were injured
Both the drivers and the two children were injured. They all received first aid from the emergency services on site. The injured were then taken to the clinic in Innsbruck or to the hospital in Hall.
There was extensive damage to both vehicles. In addition to the rescue and emergency doctor, the Telfs fire brigade and the police were also present.
