In the past few days, the State Transport Department has carried out two major inspections in the districts of Bregenz, Dornbirn and Feldkirch. No fewer than 14 drivers with a drug problem were taken off the road. Speed devils were also targeted.
It is noteworthy that eight of the fourteen drug drivers were arrested on Thursday morning, some were on their way to work. Three other drivers had drunk too much alcohol. Eleven drivers were also banned from continuing their journey, because they were driving without a valid driver’s license.

The police have also caught some traffic offenders speeding. On Saturday afternoon, a civilian traffic patrol in Damüls flashed a motorcyclist who was speeding through the city at 105 km/h – outside the city he was clocked at 141 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. His vehicle was immediately impounded.
Another motorcyclist narrowly escaped capture: he raced through the Hahnenköpfle Gallery at 119 km/h (speed 50). The traffic police emphasize that checks can currently be expected at all times and everywhere.
