Chinese President Xi Jinping told his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Wednesday that “all sides must work to resolve the crisis in Ukraine in a responsible manner,” China’s CCTV and Xinhua agency said. The Chinese leader also reaffirmed his country’s willingness to help end the conflict in Ukraine and emphasized that Beijing “maintains an independent policy” regarding Kiev.
For its part, the Bloomberg agency, also citing Chinese state television, reported that Xi had told Putin that “China would continue to support Russia on important issues of sovereignty and security,” but in this section he did not specifically mention Ukraine or against Taiwan.
