Two injured – farm building burned down: Styria in coma

On Saturday evening, a residential building and a farm in Gleisdorf, in eastern Styria, caught fire. More than a hundred firefighters fought the flames. One resident is now in a deep sleep.

Large-scale operation for the fire brigade in the Laßnitzthal district of Gleisdorf: At around 19:15, the emergency services were alerted to a fire at a horse farm. When we arrived, the farm building was completely ablaze and flames were already shooting out of the residential building.

In total, almost all fire brigades of the section with 124 men were deployed. They were able to extinguish the fire in the residential building quickly, but the farm building burned down completely.

Woman only slightly injured
The 55-year-old resident was injured in the fire and had to be flown to the LKH University Hospital in Graz by the Christophorus 12 medical emergency helicopter, where he was put into an artificial deep sleep. A 41-year-old woman was slightly injured but did not require medical attention.

The exact amount of damage has not yet been determined. The National Criminal Investigation Department has now started an investigation into the cause of the fire.
