Hamas Threatens – Five Dead in Attack on West Bank Mosque

Date:

The Israeli army has killed five Palestinian fighters who were hiding in a mosque in the West Bank, where a large-scale offensive began on Wednesday (see video above). Earlier, there had been increased militant activity in the West Bank, a military spokesman said.

A gun battle reportedly broke out between the fighters and Israeli forces inside the mosque. One of the dead is believed to be a senior leader of a terrorist network in the local refugee district. Another Palestinian militant was arrested during an operation in Tulkarem.

At least ten more dead
As reported, at least ten people were killed in the Israeli operation in the West Bank on Wednesday. The army said it had entered several places on Wednesday night, including Tulkarem and Jenin. Several wanted Palestinians have been arrested. According to official information, the background is that attacks on Israelis are increasing. At the same time, violence by extremist settlers in the occupied West Bank has increased.

Hamas threatens suicide attacks
In response to Israel’s actions in the West Bank and the ongoing attacks in the Gaza Strip, Hamas has now called for a resumption of suicide bombings, according to Arab media. The current situation calls for an “open conflict,” Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal said. Its supporters must therefore “engage in the actual resistance against the Zionist entity (Israel) on various fronts.”

The United Nations, meanwhile, criticized the harshness of Israel’s large-scale military operation. Lethal force and firearms should only be used by security forces as a last resort in cases of imminent danger of death or serious injury, the report said.

The Israeli army captured the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem in 1967. The Palestinians claim these areas for their own state.
