Although there are already hundreds of excavated landfills in use in Tyrol, new ones are constantly being added. A change in the law now gives municipalities more resources. The State Environmental Prosecutor’s Office explains which.
Much-discussed and criticised dumping procedures are currently underway in Scharnitz, Mötz, Mieming, Reutte, Schwoich and Angerberg, among others – as the State Environmental Prosecutor’s Office reports: “In Reutte in particular, the residents are very active and there is already a petition with more than 1,000 signatures. The situation has also become more serious in Scharnitz, with the population and community leaders expressly speaking out against it. In Mieming, we have filed an appeal or complaint with the Tyrolean Administrative Court as environmental lawyers, and the procedure is still ongoing,” says Walter Tschon.
