Seven people were killed in a serious bus crash in the US state of Mississippi. The accident took place on a highway, the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) announced according to various US media.
A commercial tour bus veered off Interstate 20 in Warren County shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday and overturned. Six passengers died at the scene of the crash, and another succumbed to his injuries later at a hospital.
Brothers and sisters also among the dead
According to reports, a pair of siblings (aged six and sixteen) were among the dead. A total of 37 prisoners were taken to various hospitals with injuries.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the MHP and the U.S. Highway Traffic Safety Administration. According to police, no other vehicle was involved in the fatal accident.
