A sea voyage is fun, a sea voyage is beautiful … or not: three German holidaymakers cannot sing such a song about their holiday boat trip on the Tyrolean Achensee. After a sudden thunderstorm came on, the day trippers were in distress and were unable to continue. They had to be rescued by the water rescue service.
The Germans had borrowed an electric boat in Pertisau and wanted to make a nice trip on the Achensee. But the unpredictable weather threw a spanner in the works for the holidaymakers. “Suddenly there was a thunderstorm and the waves were 30 to 40 centimeters high. The electric boat was underpowered and could not go any further or was repeatedly pushed onto the surf,” says the water rescue service.
Holidaymakers got away with a fright
The emergency services were finally alerted around 11:30 a.m. Water rescue and fire brigade set out in a motor boat and were eventually able to bring the three Germans to safety. Everyone escaped unscathed and unharmed. The electric boat has been towed back to the boat rental by the water rescue service.
