Tuesday, the fourth consecutive day of flooding in Austria, emergency services continue to battle the flooding. The fifth death has now been reported in Lower Austria; it concerns an 81-year-old woman from the Tulln district.
According to Chief Inspector Johann Baumschlager of the Lower Austrian State Police, the 81-year-old died in her flooded home in the market town of Würmla. The body was discovered by emergency services on Tuesday morning.
The death of a firefighter on duty in Rust im Tullnerfeld in the municipality of Michelhausen (Tulln district) had already become known on Sunday.
According to police reports, a 70-year-old died on Monday in Untergrafendorf in the municipality of Böheimkirchen (district of St. Pölten-Land) and an 80-year-old in Höbersdorf in the market town of Sierndorf (district of Korneuburg).
Another victim is a currently unknown man in Klosterneuburg (Tulln district). According to the police, he was found floating in the water at the Klosterneuburg lido on Monday afternoon.
