Public education in Navarra faces a day of strike on Thursday, September 26

Date:

The unions Steilas, ANPE, AFAPNA, LAB, CCOO, ELA and UGT criticize, among other things, the excessive ratios, the overload of teachers, the instability of the staff and the loss of purchasing power.

All the unions present in public education in Navarra (Steilas, ANPE, AFAPNA, LAB, CCOO, ELA and UGT) have called for a strike day this Thursday to “claim loudly and clearly the needs to achieve quality education.”

The Minister of Education of the Government of Navarra, Carlos Gimeno, has assured that the day is damaging public education, to which the organizing unions have responded that what is damaging is the excess of ratios, the overload of teachers, the instability of the templates and the loss of purchasing power.

In a press release to the media, the union centers have assured that, in order to provide quality care, it is “essential” to reduce the number of students in classrooms, in addition to reducing the overload on teachers (bureaucracy, meetings, evaluations, etc.). They also assure that the instability of the teaching staff is harming the supervision of students and school activities every year. In the same way, they are asking to recover the lost purchasing power.

For all these reasons, they are calling on people to join the strike and take part in the demonstration that will start at 6pm from Plaza de la Cruz.
