She is said to have become the target of anti-Semitic hostility: Danielle Spera supports ORF III boss Peter Schöber despite the alleged statements against her. Meanwhile, Küniglberg is conducting internal investigations against the top manager.
“I will tear Spera’s Jewish star from her dress.” And: ‘We will do like the Jews and occupy one room after another.’ Peter Schober made these statements during an internal meeting.
Spera wonders in shock
The waves and emotions are running high. Especially for the affected person “I don’t understand the world anymore,” says Danielle Speralong-respected ORF journalist and former director of the Jewish Museum Vienna in the ‘Krone’ conversation.
“Peter never said those sentences in his life. With the best will in the world, I can’t imagine that!” The 67-year-old speaks of the “best understanding and greatest mutual appreciation” between her and Schöber. “We have done and created so much together”: a three-part documentary about Aryanization, a ten-part documentary about Judaism in Austria. Spera: “So it would be absurd if he said something like that about me.”
Who is Peter Schöber?
“He.” Who is HE? Peter Schöber, media professional and top manager, supported the extraordinary termination of an ORF works council. He is said to have enriched himself through side activities and also used company equipment for private, “sparkling” video recordings (“All accusations are unfounded,” he says.) He speaks of “psychological violence.” The bizarre case will be heard in the labor court in November.
However, the Schöber case, who only reached the management level of the state radio through a whistleblower position, is being investigated internally. The boss of ORF III also “strongly rejects” all accusations. He wants to press charges – and anyone who makes accusations against him. “I am not an anti-Semite, on the contrary. “I won’t let dirt be thrown at me,” he says.
The investigations in the “Intrigantenstadl” (quote from an insider) are carried out by the compliance office, which is not subject to instructions. The board of the ORF foundation controlled by the SPÖ Heinz Lederer demands “immediate clarification” from the director general Roland Weissmann – “he must make this issue a top priority.”
On Friday evening, the ORF announced: “Today, in an hour-long conversation with Managing Director Weißmann and HR Manager Dujmovits, Schöber firmly rejected the allegations against him, in particular those of anti-Semitism.”
In a conversation with Spera, ORF boss Weißmann made it clear that anti-Semitic and racist statements “of course” had no place at ORF.
Bundle of accusations: bullying, racism, sex
Even if Schöber’s back is strengthened by the person he allegedly labeled as Jewish, the fact remains. There is a pile of accusations: it is said to be about anti-Semitism, racism, bullying, insults and sexual harassment. Signed by numerous Küniglberg employees…
