On Sunday, a 51-year-old overtook his car during an overtaking maneuver for Kirchbach. Two children were rescued thanks to the quick help of residents and passing motorists.
The 51-year-old father had his two sons (aged 6 and 14) in the back seat when he tried to overtake on the B73 towards Kirchbach around 6 p.m. on Sunday. When he rejoined the right lane, he ended up on the verge, which resulted in a serious accident.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and rolled over several times. It was only after 150 meters that the car came to a stop in the adjacent field. The accident was so serious that, among other things, the engine block was torn from the vehicle.
Firefighters had to free father from wreckage
Residents and passing motorists rescued the two children from the back seat of the wrecked car. The father, on the other hand, had to wait for the fire brigade, who had to free him from the wreckage.
The two children were taken to the LKH Graz with the rescue helicopters “Christophorus 12” and “Christophorus 17”. The 51-year-old driver came to Feldbach Regional Hospital with serious injuries.
