A serious traffic accident led to a large-scale operation on the Achensee in Tyrol on Monday: a German driver crashed into the rocks on the right, after which his vehicle rammed into the car of a local population. The four occupants were seriously injured.
The German (61) drove his car on the main road from Maurach towards Achenkirch around 11.20 am. His 58-year-old wife was in the passenger seat. At the same time, a 55-year-old resident drove her car in the opposite direction on Achenseestrasse, with a 57-year-old next to her.
For unknown reasons, the 61-year-old went over the right edge of the road near Hechenberg and crashed into the rock. The vehicle then turned 180 degrees and was thrown into the oncoming lane. The 55-year-old was unable to avoid the accident car and collided head-on with the rear of the German car.
A victim with a helicopter in the clinic
All four people were seriously injured in this accident. After receiving first aid from emergency doctors, the 57-year-old was flown in a rescue helicopter to the clinic in Innsbruck and the three other injured people were taken to Schwaz hospital by rescue services. Achenseestraße closed to all traffic until 1 pm.
In addition to the police, the Maurach fire brigade was also deployed with two vehicles and ten men, two A&E doctors with three ambulances and the rescue helicopter.
