Their bodies were found decades ago, but their identities are still unclear: the international police organization Interpol wants to launch a campaign to get a little closer to solving the long-ago murders of women in Europe.
Together with the German, Belgian, Dutch, Italian, French and Spanish police, she searches for clues about 46 women’s bodies in the ‘Identify Me’ campaign.
Most women were murdered
Most of these women were murdered or died under suspicious or unclear circumstances. On the campaign website, Interpol published facial reconstructions and images of jewelry and clothing found on the women. Interpol quoted its Secretary General Jürgen Stock: “Even the smallest piece of information can be crucial in solving these unsolved cases.”
Publicity could be the key to finding a name and a past and delivering justice that is long overdue. There is no case from Austria.
Information, details and photos about the unsolved cases can be found on the Interpol website!
A map shows where the bodies were found:
First woman already identified
Interpol launched the campaign last year with 22 cases from Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. About 1,800 tips have been received from the public. A woman was identified 31 years after her death.
