A Pole must answer for murder at the Innsbruck Regional Court on Monday. The 31-year-old is accused of using “mass violence” to murder a local acquaintance (36) with a knife in Itter (Kitzbühel district) at the end of October 2023.
Nothing was known before the trial about the motive or the exact course of events. The suspect has largely remained silent about the allegations until now, stating only that he could not remember anything because he was heavily intoxicated. However, prosecutors say he was mentally healthy when he committed the crime.
Conflicts between victim and accused
Apparently the victim and the suspected perpetrator have had conflicts with each other before. Due to his mental condition, the Pole was temporarily taken to a forensic therapeutic center. Due to a personality disorder, a request for detention must be submitted in addition to the murder charge.
Discovered dead by own parents
The 36-year-old’s body was found in his apartment in Itter at the end of October 2023. Particularly tragic: her own parents discovered their deceased son in the kitchen. “After returning from vacation,” as a researcher told the “Krone” at the time.
The current suspect was arrested three days after the crime. If convicted, he faces life in prison.
