For 72 hours: teenagers left behind in the Swedish wilderness

Date:

14 scouts from Braunau were alone in Sweden for 72 hours. The teams of two had only ten objects with them and had to solve two different tasks every day. They filmed themselves with an action camera and the results can be seen on YouTube.

14 young people – aged 13 to 16 – experienced their greatest adventure yet in Sweden. The members of the scout group Braunau were released into the Swedish wilderness in teams of two – modeled on the successful YouTube format “7 vs. Wild”.

The choice fell on Sweden
“Last year we discussed where we should hold the 2024 Girl Scout summer camp. The decision then fell to Sweden, but the current concept was still out of the question. When I saw ‘7 vs. Wild’, the idea came to me,” says initiator Patrick Eichriedler, who has 27 years of scouting experience.

500 to 600 hours invested
“At first I wasn’t fully aware of how much work the project actually took,” says Eichriedler. In May, the unloading points in Sweden were located, a safety concept was drawn up and a lot of practice was carried out. “500 to 600 hours were invested in the preparation and follow-up alone,” says the project manager. The adventure started in early August for the seven teams of two and seven adults in the organizing team.

The young people were only allowed to take ten objects with them into the southern Swedish wilderness. The main task was to build a weatherproof shelter.

Premiere am 8. November
The young people filmed themselves with an action camera. “50 hours of video material have been collected. “I finished editing the third episode this weekend,” Eichriedler said. The film premiere will take place on November 8 at the HTL Braunau. The first episode will also appear on YouTube on this day. Then the participants also see how their colleagues worked.
