After months of drought, flights to Frankfurt again and a connection to London again after six years – the week at Linz Airport started with two comebacks. One passenger was left lying on the ground: he failed passport control because he wanted to leave with a fake ID.
Monday morning at Hörsching Airport: Short lines continue to form in front of the two Ryanair drop-off counters in the departure hall as travelers want to drop off their luggage. After 2,193 days, the Irish prize fighter left Linz for London-Stansted for the first time. Expectations were high: many took advantage of the comeback of the connection with the British capital to spend the autumn holidays visiting sights in the metropolis on the Thames.
“We are flying from Linz for the first time in a long time,” revealed Petra Ruck from Steinhaus near Wels, who left for London with her husband Jürgen, son Felix and daughter Marie. “When we heard that the flights to London were back, we thought it was a great opportunity to take a city trip during the autumn holidays,” says Astrid Reisinger from Lichtenberg near Linz.
Passenger kicked out for fake passport
The Boeing 737-800 carried 183 passengers, which took off at 10:03 am – two minutes earlier than scheduled. The comeback flight was almost fully booked and there were only six seats left empty. One of these was because a passenger wanted to leave for London with an apparently fake passport. Ultimately, he was taken out of circulation by the police.
