Problems at Lake Wolfgangsee: students were not allowed to ride on the post bus

Date:

He wanted to go home for lunch after a hard day at school. But nothing came of it! “Please leave seats available for tourists,” said the bus driver and simply left Wolfgang Laimer (10) standing at the stop in St. Gilgen.

A valid ticket, enough free seats – and yet ten-year-old Wolfgang Laimer was no longer allowed to board post box number 150 in St. Gilgen. His classmates also had to wait at the stop. “The seats must be kept free for tourists,” the bus driver said and did not take the children.

“We were very worried. My son doesn’t have a cell phone yet. We didn’t know where he was – if he wasn’t home at the usual time,” says father Wolfgang Laimer. And: “The bus driver apparently didn’t like it at all. The children stood there like oxen at the gate.”

The problems surrounding line 150 – which connects the city of Salzburg with Bad Ischl – have existed for years. Only in the summer did several angry commuters contact the “Krone”.

They reported that the buses were hopelessly overcrowded. After just a few stopovers, there is often not even a vacant spot left in Salzburg-Gnigl. Because: Asian holidaymakers in particular like to use the 150. They really want to go to Ischl, so that they can go to Hallstatt from there. The problem was known, Johannes Gfrerer of the Salzburger Verkehrsverbund (SVV) told the “Krone” at the time.

Wolfgang Laimer filed a complaint with the SVV on behalf of his son and also received a letter of apology. “Hopefully this won’t happen again. We pay so that my son can use the bus.”
