In Rehden in Lower Saxony, children escaped a catastrophe. Like every year on Halloween, they went from house to house collecting candy. But one of the chocolate bars was prepared with a needle. The police are investigating attempted serious bodily harm.
The observant children found one of the chocolate bars collected from the neighborhood on Thursday strange and subjected it to a closer ‘check’. Luckily – because there was a needle hidden inside!
They met their parents and teachers at school the Friday after Halloween to go over the treats. When they took a closer look at a piece of candy, the needle appeared.
According to police, swallowing the foreign body could have resulted in “serious internal injuries.” Parents are now urged to check all treats before eating them.
“It’s not a joke, it’s a crime!”
A police spokesperson warned “Bild”: “This is not a bad joke, but a serious crime!”
The police are now looking for the person who distributed the dangerous bar of chocolate and are investigating attempted serious bodily harm. To date, no other prepared bars have been found.
