An unfortunate cornering maneuver by a farmer from Upper Austria may have cost the life of a motorcyclist on the Frankenmarkt on Monday. His grader was sticking out into the oncoming vehicle when the 25-year-old arrived there. The motorcyclist was unable to avoid the collision and was fatally injured.
The 26-year-old tractor driver. St. Georgen im Attergau was located on Reiterweg Gemeindestraße on the Frankenmarkt on Monday around 8:50 am.
A so-called grader was connected to the hydraulics of his tractor. At the intersection with the L 1282 he wanted to turn the tractor around, so he turned right onto the national highway.
Grader got stuck on the oncoming vehicle
However, he may have overlooked the fact that the grader extends into the oncoming lane.
A 25-year-old motorcyclist from Mattighofen was coming from the direction of Pöndorf at that time. Due to the dense fog, he may have noticed the turning maneuver much too late.
He crashed his machine into the grader, was ripped off his bike and thrown onto the left side of the road.
Doctors tried without success
The injuries he sustained were so serious that the man from Innviertel died at the scene of the accident. Other road users immediately started first aid measures, but unfortunately these were unsuccessful. The efforts of an emergency physician and the community doctor were also unsuccessful.
The tractor driver received a shock, but was otherwise unharmed.
