Date:

His nomination has stunned Republican ranks as Matt Gaetz faces charges of sex trafficking of a minor.

The newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, has announced the appointment of the congressman Matt Gaetzfrom the party’s hard wing, as the country’s next attorney general, through a statement.

The next president of the United States has indicated that “few issues in the United States are more important than ending the instrumentalization” of the justice system that he says has been carried out by the Joe Biden administration.

According to Trump, Gaetz will “dismantle criminal organizations and restore Americans’ faith and trust in the severely shattered Department of Justice.”

“It will be an honor to serve as President Trump’s Attorney General!”Gaetz has limited himself to saying on social networks. Gaetz, 41, has been a Florida congressman in the House of Representatives since 2017, where he has characterized himself as one of the lawmakers of the most far-right wing of the Republican Party and fully aligns with Trump’s wishes.

His nomination has baffled lawmakers in Congress, even within Republican ranks, as Gaetz is investigated for allegations that it was part of a plan by sex trafficking of a minor under the age of 17.

The appointment of the head of the Justice Department is one of the most important for Trump’s next administration.

The Republican plans, once he comes to power, to order the closure of the investigations opened against him by the Public Prosecution Service over the attack on the Capitol and the removal of classified documents from the White House.
