These are the accusations – that’s how controversial the new Linkin Park singer is

Date:

New album, new singer: Linkin Park is back! But fans are deeply divided because frontwoman Emily Armstrong is extremely controversial. Not because of her voice, but because of her Scientology membership and support of a serial rapist. Krone+ knows more.

Finally, on November 15, the time has come: after seven years and the tragic suicide of singer Chester Bennington in July 2017, Linkin Park returns with a new album. “From Zero” is the programmatic title of the work. For the first time in the band’s history, there is a frontwoman behind the microphone: Emily Armstrong. Together with rapper and songwriter Mike Shinoda, the 38-year-old embodies the new face of the immensely successful American rock band, which has sold 100 million albums and 30 million singles to date.

But Linkin Park fans are deeply divided — and not just among those segments of the fan base who generally disagree with the continued existence of their favorite band, given the circumstances of Bennington’s death. Even many supporters who are positive about returning do not agree with the choice made.
