The Russian army launched a massive airstrike on targets in Ukraine on Sunday evening. Several explosions were heard early in the morning in the Ukrainian capital Kiev, caused by anti-aircraft fire.
According to authorities, two residential buildings caught fire. Explosions were also reported on Sunday evening in the cities of Zaporizhia, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih and Odessa.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, dozens of cruise missiles and ballistic missiles have been fired at targets across the country, including by strategic bombers. Dozens of combat drones had previously been used by Russia.
Power outages in several areas
As a precaution, power was shut off in several areas to prevent possible overload of the electricity grid if energy supplies were affected. Ukraine has been fighting off a Russian invasion for almost a thousand days.
