A robber with a knife in his hand hid behind a corona mask on Wednesday morning. Not the first robbery at the Linzer Bank in Upper Austria. Two perpetrators who have already struck here have been on the run for years. One of them tried again, but found himself standing in front of closed doors.
Not again! On Wednesday, a bank robber chose a VKB branch in Linz-Kleinmünchen, which was now targeted by criminals for the fourth time. The slim perpetrator, who was about 180 centimeters tall and hid his face behind an FFP2 mask, came to the financial institution at the intersection of Zeppelinstrasse and Schickmayrstrasse at 10:37 am. “Give me money,” he demanded, knife in hand.
Bank official was shocked
The perpetrator fled towards Schickmayrstrasse with a loot of approximately four figures. A 25-year-old bank official who was threatened went into shock. There were also two bank customers in the cash room. The man is said to have been wearing a black hoodie, dark jeans and white shoes.
Not the first “visit”
There are no surveillance camera images, which complicates the search. And so it could be that the third robbery at this bank remains unsolved. On June 12, 2017, a burly perpetrator with a gun in his hand demanded and received “only large bills.” And came back on August 3 of the same year. At that moment, an employee recognized the perpetrator, who was hiding behind a scarf, and locked the door for him. And in 2021, the bank was robbed again – this perpetrator has also disappeared.
Second raid 2024
“We currently believe that the current attack is not related to these crimes,” state police headquarters said. Wednesday’s coup was the second bank robbery in Upper Austria this year. The first was committed on September 30 by two boys from Vienna and Hungary who robbed a savings bank branch in Linz-Urfahr at gunpoint. The 18- and 19-year-old duo were quickly captured in a nearby park, but their prey remained missing.
