Operation for the Florianijünger in Lauterach (Vorarlberg): On Monday a fire raged in a tractor there. The driver and local residents tried in vain to extinguish the fire.
A 38-year-old man was driving a tractor-trailer in Lauterach towards Bregenz on Monday when he suddenly noticed that the vehicle could no longer be driven safely and was shaking.
The engine started to burn
Before the intersection of the state highway and Lerchenauerstrasse, the engine started to burn and a large amount of smoke immediately entered the driver’s cabin. The 38-year-old stopped the car shortly before the intersection and got out.
Fire under control
Neighbors noticed the incident and came to help. However, neither their attempts to control the fire with hand fire extinguishers nor the attempts of the alerted Red Cross workers to extinguish the fire could contain the fire. Only the local fire brigade of Lauterach was successful. The Floriani disciples also discovered that the fire probably started in the control unit.
Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the incident and no surrounding buildings were damaged. While the fire was being extinguished, traffic on the road section in question was controlled by the police.
