“Plumbing mafiosi” have defrauded millions of customers

Date:

“Money doesn’t stink” – a plumber in Italy apparently took this saying very seriously. A gang of fraudsters near Rome have made millions in revenue by deliberately damaging the sewage pipes of unsuspecting residents. 13 “plumbing mafiosi” were arrested.

First, the “company” was called for simple blockades. But the ‘professionals’ made the existing sewerage problems even worse. They acted brazenly and sometimes punched huge holes in walls looking for blockages to take money out of their customers’ pockets for the “extra service” and to write out terrible bills.

After two years of investigation, Italian police have now arrested thirteen suspects. In addition to fraud, authorities also accuse the suspects of extortion: If their victims noticed the fraud attempt and refused to have the proposed work done at a hideous price, the fraudsters blackmailed them and threatened them with violence.

Intimidation and threats of violence
The police had previously received many reports of fraudulent activities from this company. The company’s employees always followed the same pattern: after demanding an advance of 500 euros, they gave their victims fake damages or aggravated constipation.

Apartments flooded
In this way, the “sewage gang” caused significant sewage leaks, flooding the entire apartment and creating a terrible smell of feces. Now the plumbing mafiosi must answer for themselves in court.
